Music Style - Sculpting a soundscape that binds intrinsic Afro-Caribbean rhythms and the heart-driven, improvisational song styles of Jazz and Soul music. Origin -Montreal Canada Performs - Originals & Covers Rhythm and melody are woven into her soul fabric, thanks in part to her musically-inclined parents and the family steelpan household-band she was raised in. Zaynab Wilson attunes to her creative and cultural birthright, wandering and evolving as a song and story teller interpreting the ancestral Afro-Caribbean rhythms of her heritage, soulfully vocalizing her wide range of inward and outward journeys and fully exposing her process through live performance.
With over two decades of artistic evolution as a sensitive, dynamic, and well-rounded musician, which began at age 6 in her family steelpan ensemble, Zaynab continues to gain traction with her soulful voice and original music. Since her 2018 debut, Zaynab has released three singles, performed across Canada, in the US, and Australia, and is preparing a forthcoming debut studio album for 2024 reflecting the stories of a wandering heart. “"Her gentleness and humility in her songs quietens your spirit. When I heard her songs and voice it reminded me of a young Arethra Franklin." — Shellie Morris, indigenous Australian singer/songwriter
