Live Music  at Camp Walmadan in  the very centre of the James Price Point gas hub contraversy near Broome W.A. 2012.  It was a low point for the Goolarabooloo people in preserving their tribal homelands against minnig giant Chevron so Corney Music arranged for the musicians of the Five Rivers Medicine show to visit and hear the real story at hand.  We performed music for the people and their morale  which was later said under the shake of the hand whilst locked into eye,  that we helped bring the spirit back for the journey ahead where the Goolarabooloo people successfully preserved their homelands.  It was such a pleasure that afternoon to share and perform music, having a btter understanding of the beautiful scenery we emersed ourselves into.

                       2015 Live Show Info
Happy Hump day out there to you all and it’s hard to believe its August already with live music everywhere in my sights. Sunday night I attended The Cure concert at the Perth Arena witnessing four decades of hits spread across three hours and four encores. All I can say is, the band have done their work together in order to achieve their creative goals with the fans sharing their passion in return.

In having been at their sound check it was just five guys looking like any other band with their music gear and ‘in jokes’, only surrounded in technical sound production beyond your usual par can in the corner of a front bar. A grateful experience i shared with my partner Tanya who also discovered there's more to a band than just their hits. It was a real sound to feel live, which they shared on their sleeves honestly with outstanding visual production, also promising to be back and if so, get yourself along.

Good music and good times go hand in hand and I would like to extend my thank you to Stu Harcourt who managed to keep himself off the highway and complete three months out at Uluru as resident musician for the Voyages resort. Only good things come from sacrifices and Stu performed 78 shows to international audiences selling plenty of his recorded catalogue to happy music fans night after night.

Now is Mr Mick Bennett’s time at Uluru where he started earlier this week and is raring to go the challenge of being in one place for twelve weeks, especially when one is used to driving everyday between shows throughout the countryside. I’m certain his Blues Roots tunes will keep peoples feet tapping whether they realize it or not.

This Friday Lightning Jack Ceriani is kicking off a busy weekend in his native South West after a couple years touring the East Coast, sunning himself in Queensland. Lightning Jack is currently touring South Western W.A. in August before heading to South Australia in September. First and foremost in taking care of business Jack is locking himself down at Reel to Reel studios in order to present his latest album throughout the summer months. Catch him live at the Mumballup Tavern, Beer Farm & Settlers Tavern this weekend.

Continuing this weekend is Scott Bassham currently on a tour throughout the Pilbara region sharing his rocknfolknroll at the Iron Clad Hotel in Marble Bar and the Walkabout Hotel in Port Hedland W.A. With suddenly finding himself house bound in Marble Bar, Scott is recording tracks for his upcoming album release ‘Whalebone Road’. All this will be done on his mobile studio before heading down to the beautiful Ningaloo Coast for a show at Whalers restaurant in Exmouth.

It’s a long road away from home sometimes and especially for Scott Bassham who also tours and records with ill Starred Captain. The two piece band is gearing up for a tour of the East Kimberley & Pilbara in September, with work on their new album continuing. With sessions at Big Sound Studio and film clip production with JLM Studio in booked in Adelaide for November & December, this will be the bands best music to date.

The end of the August has Ben Evolent in Darwin performing at the Humpty Doo Hotel on Friday 26th August. Ben Evolent just took out the award for the Northern Territory song of the year and spent a couple of weeks teaching music in Timor to younger songwriters. Don’t miss this songwriter who’ll keep you captivated in his musical story and raw guitar sound.

Busy times are certainly ahead with more tours to book and perform myself, so I’ll try to keep this up on a regular basis informing you about those little independent Australia touring recording artists making their way to town after town, keeping the music recording flame alight.

Cheers
Justin Francis

'Its not often you loose a mate in life and I'd like to pay my respects to my old band mate Geoffrey Thomas Morgan, a great Visual Artists,  Bass Guitarist & Saxophonist player. Better known from 90's Adelaide band 'The Sunday Roast'. Geoff is a good mate of nineteen  years where we had the privilege of being in a band, traveling Australia & playing music together with Matt Reiner .  Our friendship continued on for Fifteen years after the band parted ways in 2000 and our families became close friends also.  One day we flew to Brisbane from Adelaide to be picked up by Matt Reiner & Ed Kuepper for a Sunday Roast studio session in Byron Bay the following day.  Geoff and I had been out all night in the Valley only having to introduce ourselves the next morning for a ten day studio session. 'Whoops' we were in a good state that morning and Ed was very jokingly giving us both moral support.  All that is well ends well having good times with good laughs playing drums & Bass while Ed ripped into our timing, forcing us onto a metronome for the whole album.  A big challenge we both overcame and the recording was a winner but never released and now sits under a bed today in Adelaide. It was  a joy working with Geoff and I've never jammed with another bass player since. Rock on Geoff 'Big M Little Organ'  and I hope you got the Woogie on up Stairs plucking that Fender six string bass sharing those dark rhythmic melodic grooves and great images you have in mind.  A true friendship indeed and you may be gone but never forgotten.

Next thing a horse ran out of the paddock and ran into the car whilst doing a full 180 degree spin bearing it's butt into the window of Bec Reiner to then run off unhurt. A very quick and surreal moment & I'm not horsing around.
